FAQ

The relationship that develops between an individual and their therapist is a deeply personal relationship and requires a great deal of trust. During our first meeting together, we will go over your initial paperwork and I will ask you questions about your history and the concerns you have. We will make a plan, together, for how to improve your quality of life and mental health.

Absolutely! People from all walks of life with different challenges can benefit from therapy. Among these are individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, life changes (including divorce, death, job loss), addiction, trauma, caregiver burnout, stress and suicidality.

I have loved turtles since I was a little girl. For me, turtles embody freedom and peace. When I see them swimming through the vastness of the ocean, they look so calm and wise. I think we can learn so much from these peaceful sea creatures: about resilience, mindfulness, and perseverance.

C-PTSD

Complex PTSD is a form of PTSD that stems from prolonged exposure to abuse or neglect. This often occurs during childhood but can also happen to adults and includes sexual, psychological and/or physical abuse. This can manifest in a range of challenging symptoms, including emotional flashbacks, shame, social anxiety, and a relentless inner critic. You’re not alone on this journey, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Religious Trauma or Church Hurt

Religious trauma or adverse religious experiences can be incredibly distressing, leaving individuals with emotional wounds, disillusionment, and a sense of hurt within a religious context. These experiences can range from spiritual abuse and manipulation to oppressive belief systems that include the expectation of perfection. Further, you may have been taught that mental health struggles are a result of “not being faithful enough” or “sinning.” This may have resulted in a lost sense of self and autonomy. As a result, you may be dealing with symptoms like anxiety, depression, guilt, and a significant upheaval in your core beliefs and values.
